Rubik’s Cube night, Tuesday July 5th
How to solve a Rubik’s Cube:
- Solve the first two layers
- ???
- Profit!
The Rubik’s Cube has puzzled and delighted (but especially puzzled) young and old for decades since its rise to fame in the 1980s. Like many things 80s, it’s experiencing a bit of a renaissance at the moment. There are exactly 43,252,003,274,489,856,000 permutations, which is approximately forty-three quintillion
This workshop intends to give attendees an introduction to the Rubik’s Cube. The goal is to get everyone to solve “the first two layers”, which is roughly halfway towards solving the whole thing. In so doing, we’ll touch on some basic cube vocabulary, rudimentary techniques, overall strategies, and how to learn to learn.
Learning to cube is definitely NOT the sort of thing you can do just by watching, because your hands are such a big part of the learning. While there will be a few extra cubes, please *bring your own*, and extras if you can.
