VHS has a board of directors that tries to remain largely uninvolved and democratic. We strive to have a flat hierarchy where every member, keyholder and director is given equal say in our society. However, Directors are there to take over in issues of legality, finance, building maintenance and interpersonal conflict in order to keep our space afloat.

Our Building

This is our building! It's short in the front, long in the back. A great mullet for happy hackers! Currently this is the sixth iteration of Vancouver Hack Space, and one of the largest we've been able to inhabit so far. We're truly excited for all the great projects we can get started on now that we have this building.

[A photo of the interior of VHS taken some time in 2009. A large poster on the wall shows an older VHS logo, and you can see a few people working and talking in the space]

VHS has existed in 6 different spaces now.

We date back to August 20th, 2008, when the initial meeting happened at the Hackery. There is probably a list somewhere of the people who were at that meeting. It's thought we rented our first space in the summer of 2009.
