Members work on personal projects, collaborate with others, and learn new skills. More than just a studio space, we focus on sharing all sorts of knowledge within a friendly and collaborative atmosphere. VHS is the community workshop for a community without workshops. Many of our members share an interest in 3D printers, laser cutting, machining, crafting, costuming and cosplay, prop making, electronics, robotics, programming, wood working, and art. We welcome anyone with skills to share or an interest in learning, and strive to be as open as possible in everything we do. Like many other [[wiki:about_hackspaces|hackspaces]], the Vancouver Hack Space operates on a model of [[wiki:do-ocracy|do-ocracy]]. A lot of the more casual, temporary, and in-the-moment organizing, socializing, and discussion at VHS happens on Slack. To join our Slack community, send yourself an invite from the [Get Involved](https://membership.vanhack.ca/#/getinvolved/) tab on [membership.vanhack.ca](https://membership.vanhack.ca). ### Talk (forums) [Talk](https://talk.vanhack.ca) is the main hub of our community. A much more permanent record than slack, and with the ability to reach the entire VHS community. Not every member is on slack, but every member is on Talk. This is where our general meetings are organized, committee reports are filed, and raffles, polls, project planning, etc. happens.
