-The MAME arcade cabinet in VHS serves a number of purposes. It is a media server, arcade game frontend, and general purpose workstation.  Here are some of the ways you can interact with it.  If you want to monkey with the computer, the username is vhs and the passw0rd is hackspace.  If you break it, please fix it (or at least tell someone else who can fix it).
-
-[[http://mpd.wikia.com/wiki/Music_Player_Daemon_Wiki|MPD Audio Server]] - MPD is a client/server MP3 player.  The server is on the MAME machine.  The client is used to create playlists, pause/play the tracks.  You can load the client onto your [[http://www.appbrain.com/app/droid-mpd-client/com.soreha.droidmpdclient|Android phone]], your [[http://www.katoemba.net/makesnosenseatall/mpod/|iPhone]], your [[http://theremin.sigterm.eu/|Mac]], or interact with it through the [[http://www.mpdtunes.com/|web portal]] (not yet released..  it'd be great to poke this developer to see if we can beta his MPD web client).  To configure your MPD client software, connect your device to the VHS wifi, then set the server to mame.hackspace.ca, use the default port of 6600, and leave the username/password blank.

-[[http://www.anti-particle.com/wahcade.shtml|Arcade Frontend]]  - WahCade is the frontend software for the MAME emulator on the arcade.
-
-If WahCade is not running, you should start it from the icon on the MAME machine's desktop, or from the menu.
-  * Use the player 1 joystick to toggle up and down in the game menu
-  * Press the Player 1 start button to start the selected game
-  * Press the ??? button to return to the game selection menu.
-
-When you are in a game:
-  * Press 5 to simulate a coin drop into the Player 1 coin slot.  Press this as many times as you want to drop virtual quarters into the machine! Muhahahaha!!
-  * (Optional) Press 6 to simulate a coin drop into the Player 2 coin slot. 7 for Player 3 and you guessed it - 8 for Player 4.
-  * Press the Player 1 and/or Payer 2 start buttons to start the game.
-  * Press ???? to quit the game and go back to the menu.

-In case you haven't noticed, there's a full sized four player arcade game in the corner at the hackspace.  The idea is to convert this into a four player MAME system.  The cabinet is

-**To Do**__
-
-You got silk screen in my MAME Cabinet!  No, you got MAME Cabinet in my silk screen!
-
-The current plan is to use the available space in the bottom of the MAME cabinet as a light proof box in which we can develop silk screens.  Lacking a complete knowledge of the silk screen process, I've enlisted Emily for some pointers.  These are the things we need to do to make this happen:
-
-  * Set the mame machine to use a static IP and update the DNS entry to reflect the change (it is currently set to DHCP - <del>disaster</del> unavailability waiting to happen!)
-  * <del>Wire the cabinet so all the components get power when the cabinet switch is turned on</del> Thanks Stephen Young!! - done
-  * <del>Remove the coin box from the cabinet</del> - done
-  * <del>Create a space in the upper cabinet for the computer and other electronics</del> - done
-  * <del>Move the electronics to the top</del> - done
-  * Build a box suitable for storing the screens 29" wide X 26" high X 24 3/4" deep (they must be stored horizontally)
-  * Install said box in the cabinet
-  * <del>Fishboy will set up a PC running Linux, MAME, and Wahcade as the front end.  It will power on as soon at the cabinet switch is turned on</del> - done
-  * Add three additional buttons to all players so we can get some sweet Street Fighter action going on.  Derek mentioned that he could use his CNC to cut some more plexi to replace the one on there already.
-  * Install 4 coin buttons.  They will be mounted in Plexi (11cm x 22cm) and put in the original coin slots.
-  * Install some sort of skirting around the door for the back (for aesthetics) and the same skirting around the door for the silk screen boxes (to ensure it's light proof)
-  * Ipac 4 to clean up the wiring and move it into the controller box
-  * Add the ability to use four wireless controllers?
-  * Add a projector in the top marquee area?
-  * Some sort of haptic feedback ??
-  * Audio out to 5.1?
-  * Coat of paint ??
-  * articulating beer holders ??
